While the Florence Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the death of Mattia Giani, the 26-year-old footballer from Castelfiorentino who fell ill during a match with Lanciotto on Sunday 14 April and later died, the sports judge has fined Lanciotto Campi 400 euros “for lack of ambulance and/or doctor”. This can be read in the official press release n.74 of the National Amateur League (LND) of Tuscany today, 18 April. The press release also highlights that Giani was “helped by the guest masseur and a doctor present in the stands who intervened with cardiac massage and the use of the defibrillator present in the changing rooms” and that “after 17 minutes a first ambulance arrived and continued the maneuvers aided by other volunteers who arrived a few minutes later with another ambulance”. The sports judge also underlines the correctness of the decision to suspend the match by underlining “the great observance of the values of solidarity and sporting fairness” by the refereeing team and the Lanciotto Society.
