A tanker transporting dangerous substances, a school bus with several passengers and about twenty cars: these are the vehicles that will be involved in a very serious accident, fortunately only simulated, which will have to test the city’s rescue system. The simulation of the maxi-emergency event is scheduled for Saturday 20 April at the Novi Sad park in Modena from 9am to 1pm.
It will put to the test not only the rescue machine, through the intervention of the 118 health workers and the hospitals, but also all the police forces and bodies responsible for intervening at the site of the accident to carry out the operations aimed at securing the people, the area and to prevent risks for citizens: from the Fire Brigade to the Traffic Police, from the Carabinieri to the local Police, from the Red Cross to the provincial Anpas Coordination, all with the coordination of the Modena Prefecture. Involving approximately 250 people, the exercise, promoted by the Intercompany Emergency Department and Modena Fire Brigade Command, intends to evaluate the readiness and response capacity of the personnel and resources involved in dealing with major emergency situations.
To allow the exercise to take place, the area of the Novi Sad park affected by the event will therefore be closed to vehicles and pedestrians unrelated to the event; furthermore, the operations for setting up and assembling the structures will begin on Thursday 18th April and will continue on Friday 19th with the relocation of the damaged vehicles and the installation of the medical tents for the creation of the hospitals.
To allow the set-up operations and the carrying out of the exercise, some measures are necessary regarding traffic and parking in the area.
From 8am on Thursday 18th until 6pm on Sunday 20th it will not be possible to pass through the portion of Novi Sad park, north side, between via Bono da Nonantola, viale Monte Kosica and via Fontanelli. In the same period of time (but starting from 7 am on Thursday) there is a ban on parking – removal area, except for emergency and police vehicles, in the area adjacent to the entrance to the underground car park on the Viale Monte Kosica side.
Finally, from 7am on Thursday 18th to 6pm on Sunday the parking ban – removal zone, except for vehicles participating in the exercise, will also be in force in a portion of the car park in Piazzale Tien An Men: from the Baluardo to Viale Monte Kosica. The transit and parking limits will be appropriately indicated by road signs.
