Lentini (Sr). The Giants of Leontinoi, “Silent Theater” show directed and curated by Angelo D’Agosta

The debut of the theatrical show is eagerly awaitedThe Giants of Leontinoi”, edited and directed by the actor Angelo D’Agosta and produced by the cooperative Badia Lost & Found. The event will take place on the dates of April 20th and 21st inside the suggestive Urban Art Park of Lentini (Syracuse).

Known for his unforgettable performances, including “Ulysses in Hell“in the cellars of the Benedictine Monastery and Dante in the show”Dante’s Inferno” at the Gole dell’Alcantara, D’Agosta confirms himself once again as a leading figure in the contemporary theater panorama.

“The Giants of Leontinoi” offers the public an immersive journey through the myths, stories and legends that have shaped the community of Leontinoi: from the toponymic legend, according to which Heracles gave the skin of the Nemean lion to the population who inhabited these lands, to the struggles of the trade unionist Graziella Vistrè, defender of agricultural workers’ rights in the 1960s.

The show aims to illuminate the deep roots of that land mentioned covertly in Homer’s Odyssey, which was home to Giants by birth such as the Laestrygonians and Giants by choice such as Gorgias and Jacopo the Notary «who was born from Lentino», transforming the Urban Art Park in an open-air theater, where pictorial art merges with theatrical art, in a perfect and tangible embrace of humanity, authentic beauty and respect for the territory and for those who live there.

Sparta Alley, known as “Courtyard of the Giants” thanks to the majestic works of the master from Lentino Franco Condorellicomes alive with emotions right from the beginning of the show, containing a profound message:

«Walls separate, divide, impose borders, delimit territories, even give people a name […] Yet, it is rare but every now and then it happens, there are walls that rather than divide, unite, that instead of highlighting differences, preserve memory”

From this polysemantic and “noisy” message, the “silent” narration begins.

“The Giants of Leontinoi” is the first show of “Silent Theatre” site specific in Sicily, with entirely Sicilian production.

Respecting the environment and those who live in it every day, this format provides, thanks to advanced audio technologies, the transmission of the entire show via headphones, raising awareness of noise pollution and making a product that is already important and unique in itself.

The use of headphones also gives the comfortable and evocative possibility of totally immersing oneself in the narration, avoiding any form of distraction due to external noises, given that it is an urban environment, atypical for this type of activity.

The show is thus made in form and content, a messenger of important values, inviting the adults of today and those of tomorrow to reflect.
