CATANIA – The administrator of the municipal urban transport subsidiary Amts has communicated to the unions that he intends open service for Labor Day. “In fact, the corporate understanding was communicated to us at a meeting on March 13,” Faisa Cisal said in a statement. “It is an absolute novelty for citizens, for tourists and above all for employees, considering that in living memory, the company remained closed on May 1st”.
The trade union organization claims to have sent a note to the sole director requesting a meeting, also sending the same note to the mayor of Catania, to the president of the municipal council and to the group leaders. “The complexity of the issue, as in this case of the employee called to work on public holidays during the week, requires particular attention, as, in our opinion, the worker could abstain from work if he wanted”, the union writes further.
“Availability must be mutual”
“So, in the absence of a company agreement governing the due remunerationthe correct articulation of the Work and much more on May 1st, Faisa Cisal, to protect the interested parties of associated and non-associated workers, intends to have a discussion on the merits which we hope will take place no later than next week – concludes the note -. We believe that the willingness to negotiate must be mutual and desired by both parties, otherwise each of the actors will assume their own responsibility”.
