The shopping cart slows down but not the potatoes

TERNI – Inflation raises its head slightly. In February it was at +0.6%, in March at +0.9%. But not because of the increase in shopping cart prices, which actually go down. Those of fruit and vegetables are all decreasing except for potatoes, which continue to rise in price (+15% compared to a year ago). And chocolate also becomes more expensive, but that is a case in itself. The municipality’s statistical services have released the March bulletin on the trend in food prices, which, despite the Easter holidays, fell on average by 0.8%. However, there were increases in packaged pastry products +7% compared to a year ago. Also in Terni an increase in the price of chocolate due to the production crisis.
The price of fruit, vegetables and dairy products decreases. The price of potatoes is still increasing: +15% compared to a year ago.
Overall, food prices are still higher on average than a year ago (+3%).
The prices of clothing and footwear are increasing in conjunction with the new spring collections and “the change of shop windows”. Air and rail travel and fuel are also becoming more expensive. According to the data update by Ater – the statistical services report – there is an increase in real rents for homes of public bodies (+25.3%) following the entry into force, starting from the month of March 2024, of Regional Regulation no. 3 of 02/29/2024, which repeals the previous Regulation no. 7/2019 applied in the years 2020/2023.
