The victim of the tragic accident that occurred this morning (Tuesday 16 April) along provincial road 66, near the Ghedi military airport, is a 60-year-old from Ghedi, but originally from Campania. According to an initial reconstruction, the man – born in 1963 – was riding a Kawasaky motorbike when a small car, which was proceeding in the opposite direction, hit him full on.
A 50-year-old woman was behind the wheel: it seems she was headed to the Luigi Olivari air base to take part in the protest, called by some pacifist groups in the province, against the participation of some school groups in the event – performance of the Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team. The motorist would have invaded the opposite lane during a reversal maneuver, ending up hitting the victim’s motorbike.
A terrible impact, which left the 60-year-old no escape, thrown from the saddle and then falling disastrously to the ground: he died instantly. Unfortunately, every rescue attempt by the 118 men, who arrived with an ambulance and two medical vehicles, was in vain.
The first to intervene were the Carabinieri, already on site to supervise the protest demonstration: the findings and investigations were, however, entrusted to the local police of Ghedi. The motorbike and the car were seized, as per practice. The magistrate on duty did not order an autopsy and the body is already available to the family.
