The meeting and whoever saw it were jailbirds. Because in Milan, last week, there was a summit between Giovanni Manna, next sporting director of Napoli (who has already agreed to interrupt the collaboration with Juventus), and the entourage of Jonathan David, striker of Lille and the Canadian national team. The Azzurri have decided to target him after a fluctuating first part of the season: in the last nine games he has scored ten goals, making his comeback for all the big clubs. There may be a period of cloudiness, considering that there are 23 goals in total this season.

In the summit we talked above all about the possibility of being the point of reference in attack, retracing what was done by Victor Osimhen, who arrived from Lille in 2020 and is now valued at 150 million. David likes the destination and Serie A, he asked for a five-year contract of 3 million euros plus bonuses – much lower than the over 10 that Osimhen receives – and has no doubts about the project, even without Europe. Lille remains to be convinced because if in January they asked for 35-40 million (also due to the fluctuating first part of the season, as already mentioned), now the price has risen back to fifty million. Napoli would like a discount considering the excellent offices between the clubs, going down to around 35 plus bonuses. In short, the distance is not small.

And Milan? Look interested, because if the negotiation for Joshua Zirkzee doesn’t go through, David would be back in vogue. Napoli tried to block David at the start, to avoid intrusions and try to get the price ahead of the competition.
