The mayor of Santa Maria di Licodia, Giovanni Buttò, has proclaimed city mourning for today, 12 April 2024, following the death which occurred on 9 April at the Catania Polyclinic. Today, at 3.30 pm, the young woman’s funeral will be held at the Santissimo Crocifisso Parish of Santa Maria di Licodia.

The mayor has established a series of measures to adequately honor the memory of the 32-year-old and to respect the pain of her loved ones during this period of mourning.

“The display at half-mast of the municipal flag placed in the Town Hall as a sign of mourning. The invitation to the owners of commercial activities and public operators to avoid behavior that may conflict with the spirit of the city’s mourning. The ban on activities recreational and recreational activities and initiatives that can contrast with the mournful character of the ceremony and with the urban decorum. These measures aim to guarantee a respectful and reflective environment in the city during the day of mourning and during the funeral of the young woman. The community of Santa Maria of Licodia joins in condolences and support for the family and friends of the young deceased”, reads the note.
