Sanremo. A joint inspection by the Councilor for Urban Planning and Construction of the Liguria Region took place this afternoon Marco Scajola and the mayor of Sanremo Alberto Biancheritogether with the councilor for Public Works Massimo Donzella and to the sole director of Arte Imperia Antonio Parolinion the first construction sites started of the maxi Pinqua project (National innovative program for the quality of living), of the Pigna of Sanremo.

The total investment amounts to more than 16 million euros, to which 13.5 will be added from private resources, to completely redevelop and regenerate the historic center of Sanremo, giving it new life. “After too many years of waiting, the Pigna di Sanremo will finally be able to have a new face – declares the regional councilor Marco Scajola -. We have finally entered the operational phase with several construction sites already well underway and others ready to go. From the beginning we strongly believed, together with the municipal administration, in this ambitious project and we managed with great joint work to respect it perfectly the times imposed by the Pnrr. The objective is to make this neighborhood an urban, cultural and tourist reference not only for Sanremo, but for the entire Region. We are regenerating squares, streets, historic buildings, we will bring in activities, commercial establishments while giving new impetus to public and social residential construction”.

“It is a moment of extraordinary importance for the redevelopment and valorization of the historic core of Sanremo – underlines the mayor Alberto Biancheri -. Our offices did a great job to meet the Pnrr deadlines: it was not easy to award the contracts, around twenty for a total amount of over 16 million, within the set deadlines. All this considering that, with the projects launched by our administration, other important investments must be managed, worth around 200 million. And in this context, the Pinqua per la Pigna plan, managed together with the Region, represents one of the cornerstones of the action aimed at significantly improving the image of the city, highlighting the beauty and potential of our historic center which, for too long time, was waiting for profound and complex interventions like those which have just begun and which are destined to progressively expand, according to the established timetable”.

The inspection started from Piazza Santa Brigida. The recovery site is underway here, for an amount of 485 thousand euroswhich aims to enhance the potential of the square and make it more efficient and usable with new paving, furnishings, lighting and a lift connecting to Via Palma.
From Piazza Santa Brigida, the redevelopment of the oratory is also planned, to the Bottini chapel where the progress of the works is approximately 80% of its completion for 84 thousand euros. The intervention involves the restoration of the decorated walls with restoration of the originality of the paintings, the vault and the altar.
Third stop at Palazzo delle Rivolte where the recovery of the property for a total of 913 thousand euros is underway. Six apartments will be built with moderate rent, two rooms for public use on the mezzanine floor and two rooms for commercial premises on the ground floor.
Final passage in via della Prudenza where the recovery site of one of the 23 new homes that Arte Imperia will build in Pigna is operational, combined with the purchase of another 8, for a total amount of over 3 million euros.

“Through great work conducted with the Liguria Region such as Arte Imperia we have started all our interventions – declares the sole administrator Antonio Parolini -. Residential construction is at the center of Pigna Up and will help bring the historic neighborhood back to life. We managed to purchase, in record time, 8 new homes which we will renovate and add to the inclusion center and the 20, including public and social housing, already previously planned for an overall operation of great impact”.

Work has also begun on public toponymy plaques, those linked to the implementation of tourist signage and those for the recovery of the historic Regina Elena gardens with the green area located in the curve of the Senatore Marsaglia road and with the forthcoming installation of scaffolding for the interventions on the walls and on the cantilevered terrace.

The following will start in the next few weeks: the recovery of a property located in Piazza Cassini, the hygienic and sanitary adaptation of nine municipal properties spread across the historic center, the general redevelopment of the open spaces of the Pigna including the underground services, the historic fountains, the improvement of accessibility and street furniture, the recovery of the oratory of Santa Brigida and that of the Hypogeum passage, the installation of broadband, the creation of a research and dissemination center in Palazzo Roverizio, the environmental redevelopment of the Francia gallery and the energy redevelopment of the Colombo Institute.
Each construction site will have different completion times, but the entire project must be completed by the second quarter of 2026.
