MONTE CARLO (Principality of Monaco) – Jannik Sinner takes revenge from last edition and beats Holger Rune to the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo and returns to the semi-final where he will face Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Italian tennis player won with a score of 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-3 after 2 hours and 40 minutes

Rune starts to feel a little on his feet and Sinner feels it’s time, at 5-5 the Dane finds himself serving under 0-30! Rune gets the warning for violating the time and “catches” the public also suffering a warning from the race director. Rune gets into an argument with the referee so much so that he sits down and waits for the supervisor and stops the match. The stop does not affect Sinner who forces the opponent into an error for the second 0-40 of the set. The Dane reacts well this time too, saving the 3 break points and going up 6-5. Sinner holds serve at 0 and it goes to the tie-break.
Second set: Rune 5-4
Rune undermines Sinner’s serve, doing well, especially in defense, to resist for the 3-3. No problems for the Dane in his turn at bat and he remains “on serve”. In the 10th game Sinner becomes dangerous again (40-40) but Rune scores two great points to take the lead 5-4.
