These are special days at the Lega house, especially in the province of Varese where tomorrow, April 13th there will be two separate parties (one in Varese with Salvini and one in Gemonio with the Bossiani). Today, April 12, 2024, the League turns 40 and in the area there is a buzz of initiatives that are rekindling the fire under the ashes with reflections that reach as far as Rome and the top of Via Bellerio in Milan.
And yesterday evening, April 11th, the eve of the anniversarythe twist happened: the historic senator and MEP Bustocco Francesco Enrico Speroni in fact he decided to return to the Via Culin section for the classic meeting of the militants, after more than eight months of absence. In reality, his removal did not have political reasons but, more than anything else, traffic reasons and yet these days everything is seen under a magnifying glass
In reality Speroni had already returned to the Northern League headquarters in Busto Arsizio for the presentation of the book “Il Volo Padano”, published on Amazon, written by the journalist Marco Linari and based on his stories of a life spent in the most important places of politics from Rome to Brussels.
It was the beginning of August when Speroni had “torn” with the other local members, outraged by the fact that the secretariat and the Northern League representatives in the council had endorsed without fighting the institution of one-way traffic in via Galvani, a stone’s throw from his home , with the creation of a controversial cycle path.
Nothing against the League, enough to continue attending provincial meetings, but Speroni had decided to cut ties with the Bustocca team. “They don’t see me there anymore”, his angry comment. All this until last night (after there had been a prologue for the press conference launching the event). On the other hand, the full audience and the demonstration of affection expressed towards him at the presentation of the book resolved the friction, reconnecting the threads of a forty-year history.
«I am very happy that he is back with us to share his political analyzes and to dispense advice from the height of his experience. For us Speroni has always been an important reference, so much so that in these days of celebrations we have said it repeatedly”, explains the Northern League city secretary Alessandro Albani. «But Francesco warned us: at the next one-way street in Busto, he leaves again».
Meanwhile there is a happy ending for the League’s 40th birthday. It could not have been otherwise for a character whose history is inextricably linked to that of the Carroccio and who in his living room keeps a copy – not even a miniature one – of the symbolic statue of Alberto da Giussano.
