MACERATA – Emergency underway in Macerata due to a gas leak. The Italgas company, with a note, informs citizens that in Macerata, in via Cluentina, a third-party company – unrelated to the company – involved in laying optical fiber damaged a gas pipeline causing a leak.

The intervention of the technicians

Italgas technicians promptly intervened on the scene and are working to make the area safe and repair the damage suffered and via Cluentina in Piediripa was closed as a precaution with the evacuation of the buildings and companies.

The press release from the municipal administration

Regarding the gas leak that occurred in Piediripa, in via Cluentina, residents of the area are informed, following the coordination table held in the Prefecture, that the episode is monitored and scrupulously attended to by the Italgas technicians who intervened on site together with the police, the firefighters, the local police, the Technical and Social Services Offices of the Municipality and the Macerata Soccorso Civil Protection association.

The area was isolated and delimited and Piazzale Salvo D’Acquisto was identified as a meeting point for the residents of Via Cluentina who had to leave their homes. Regarding traffic, there are alternative routes and we recommend taking via Teresa Noce (Valleverde industrial area).

For residents of the area, the return to their homes is expected after checking by the firefighters of each housing unit involved. Residents of the area, for any need, can contact the number 0733256346. Further updates will follow.
