Road safety: State Police and Lumsa, a protocol signed yesterday

Road safety is a primary objective at European and national level which combines the need for the diffusion of responsible behavior towards those who use vehicles for their travels with the general objective of “Zero victims”, set by the European Commission and to be achieved by 2050 In this perspective, we read in a press release just released, “the Ministry of the Interior – Department of Public Security – Central Directorate for the Road, Railway and Communications Police and for the Special Departments of the State Police and Lumsa University have developed a memorandum of understanding which will see them collaborate on joint initiatives aimed at training, informing and educating on road safety and preventing and containing accidents. These actions and initiatives will be aimed at the entire Lumsa academic community (teachers, administrative, technical and library staff and students)”. The agreement – lasting three years – was signed in the University yesterday, in the Giannina Di Marco Hall, by Francesco Bonini, rector of Lumsa, by the prefect Renato Cortese, central director for the road, railway and communications police and for the special departments of the State Police.
For the purposes of better implementation of the memorandum of understanding with the State Police, Lumsa University has included teachers Fabio Bolzetta (Journalism Laboratory) and Donatella Pacelli (full professor of General Sociology) in the technical coordination table. The agreement will also launch academic, cultural and professional training activities, including post-graduate ones on road safety and traffic law. The University and its offices will be the venue for meetings with traffic police operators to be held also with the collaboration of other public and private entities. The students will be actively involved and may be asked to develop practical proposals, developed in the laboratory, of products created with the most suitable communication techniques for raising awareness, particularly among young people, about road safety.
