CUORGNE’-BORGIALLO – An afternoon of intense work today, Saturday 6 April 2024, for the firefighters of Rivarolo Canavese and Castellamonte, the Aib volunteers of Pont Canavese, Ozegna and Prascorsano and the agents of the local police of the Metropolitan City and the municipality of Cuorgnè. They were all busy between Borgiallo and Cuorgnè due to a forest fire that broke out in the early afternoon in the Pianezze area.
The alarm went off shortly after 3.30 pm. The flames spread to a hilly area above the church in the Priacco hamlet. The local police intervened promptly and as a precaution immediately closed access to via Bastiglia to traffic in order to allow the firefighters and Aib operations to carry out safely. The fire brigade and forest firefighting teams put out the fire, preventing the flames from spreading, creating apprehension for the inhabitants of some houses further away from the center of the village. Investigations into the causes of the fire are underway.
