The Hamas-run Gaza Strip’s Health Ministry said it discovered dozens of bodies in al-Shifa hospital after tanks and other Israeli army vehicles withdrew today. “We won”. This was stated by Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayor of Istanbul who, with over 85% of the ballots counted, obtained more than 50% of the votes, being reconfirmed as first citizen and therefore beating Murat Kurum, the candidate supported by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stuck at 40%. French Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourné, visiting Beijing where he met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, said he expected China to send a “clear message” to Moscow on Ukraine.

Moscow, the 150 thousand new recruits will not go to Ukraine

The enlistment of approximately 150,000 new recruits in Russia , on the basis of a decree signed yesterday by President Vladimir Putin, is part of the normal spring conscription call and “has nothing to do” with the conflict in Ukraine, where these soldiers will not be sent. The Ministry of Defense specified this in a note released on its Telegram channel. Vice Admiral Vladimir Tsimlyansky, deputy head of the Organization Department, stressed that “all recruits will be sent to permanent bases for active service and will not be used in the new regions or in the special military operation.”

By “new regions” in Russia we mean the Ukrainian ones of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, while the conflict in Ukraine is called a “special military operation”. At the end of 2023, President Vladimir Putin said that two thirds of the 617,000 military personnel employed in Ukraine are professionals who enlisted under contract, and a third are reservists called up to arms. Last year, he specified, 486,000 people decided to join the Russian armed forces for a fee.
