The 25-year-old photographer also told many things about herself and her family, focusing in particular on hers childhood, spent in the community of San Patrignano.
His parents, in fact, had met there, where they had both entered detox from heroin: «Mum was 17, dad was 25. She had just entered, she had to travel a longer distance. He, however, had already been there for some time. He waited for her and an absurd love was born. Then they got married and left the community.”
Petris also said that, in an attempt to protect her from drugs, her parents raised her within the community, in a dimension that was far too isolated: «My mother, in quotes, made mistakes with me. She was so terrified that I would make his mistakes, that I didn’t have the chance to experience an adolescence like others. Until I was 13 I was in San Patrignano all the time and this led me to not know real life, I had no idea about the outside world».
The GF competitor then focused on painful loss of his father Osvaldo, who died of leukemia when she was 20: «He passed away quickly, in front of me and my mother. He was in a coma, the doctors told us that we had to choose whether to turn off the machines, then him he decided to turn himself off». After the death of the parent, a difficult period followed: «For almost six months I didn’t want to leave the house anymore. I had bad thoughts, I didn’t want to wake up in the morning.”
