Carlo Acutis will soon be a saint – Ansa

On October 20, the Church will have 14 new saints, but Carlo Acutis will not be among them, as he will probably be canonized during the Jubilee 2025. The ordinary public Consistory for the canonization of new saints, in fact, was held this morning, July 1. In the appropriate Hall of the Vatican Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis presided over the celebration of the Terce Hour and then the last formal act that precedes the proclamation of the new saints and in which the date of the canonization celebration is indicated.

The blessed who will become saints are:

– Manuel Ruiz López and seven companions, of the Order of Friars Minor, and Francis, Mooti and Raphael Massabki, lay faithful, martyrs;

– Giuseppe Allamano, priest, founder of the Institutes of the Consolata Missionaries and the Consolata Missionary Sisters;

– Marie-Léonie Paradis (born Virginie Alodie), founder of the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Holy Family;

– Elena Guerra, founder of the Congregation of the Oblates of the Holy Spirit, known as the “Sisters of Saint Zita”;

– Carlo Acutis, a faithful layman.

During the Consistory, the Pope decreed that Blessed Manuel Ruiz López and seven companions and Francis, Mooti and Raffaele Massabki, Giuseppe Allamano, Marie-Léonie Paradis and Elena Guerra be inscribed in the Register of Saints on Sunday 20 October 2024, during the celebration of the Synod of Bishops on Synodality.

The Bulletin of the Holy See Press Office instead informs that Blessed Carlo Acutis will be registered in the Register of Saints “on a date to be determined”. It is easy to suppose that this could happen during the Jubilee Year, when other canonization ceremonies are planned.

The so-called ceremony was also followed by The wish with which three Cardinals, after ten years of permanence in the Order of Deacons, have asked to pass to the Order of Presbyters. Thus for the American Cardinal James Michael Harvey, the Diaconia of S. Pio V in Villa Carpegna has been elevated pro hac vice a Priestly title; for the Italian Lorenzo Baldisseri, the Diaconia of Sant’Anselmo all’Aventino was elevated pro hac vice a Priestly title; and for the German Gerhard Ludwig Müller, the Deaconry of S. Agnese in Agone was elevated pro hac vice a Presbyteral title.

After these steps, the Corsican Dominique Mamberti becomes the cardinal protodeacon under the age of 80, who would therefore have the task of announcing the name of the new Pope in the event of a Conclave.
