SARONNO – Salt fever never leaves you when it hits: for this reason, after seven years, Team Speed-ITA has decided to return to the Bonneville salt lake with the clear objective of breaking the speed record in the MPS-AG category .
They are partially faired modified motorbikes, with a 50cc displacement. The motorbike chosen to attempt the record is a 1972 Gilera 50 4V whose engine has been replaced with a more recent water-cooled Derbi, identical in displacement as required by the regulations.
Some improvements were then made thanks to the experience acquired in 2017. The rules AMA-Land Speed Grand Championship they are very complex, and require extreme attention to avoid finding themselves in difficult situations, also because the first mechanical workshop is located over 20 kilometers from the area paddock.
