New troubles for Windows 11: there seems to be a new bug which afflicts the Microsoft operating system, already reported on the Microsoft Community Forums but which, for the moment, is without solution. The good news? It’s a problem present in the last one Insider builds, so it should be fixed before the update is released.

According to the report, which dates back to June 5, the Microsoft Cross Device service would do a excessive CPU usage, occupying it until 10% and effectively slowing down the system. Microsoft seems to have figured out the cause of the problem, but has not yet released a corrective patch.

The bug causes abnormal CPU usage by the Cross Device service, which uses up to 10% of the processor, slowing down the system.

Neowin reports that within the Feedback Hub dedicated to Insider users, Jennifer G, a Microsoft engineer, said that Microsoft is working on a fix. After a week there is no new news and, as already mentioned, no correction has yet been distributed.

It is likely that the bug surfaced after Microsoft worked on some improvements for Windows 11’s Cross Device service, which serves to facilitate synchronization between PC and smartphone for sharing files and using other features. The service is the basis of Phone Link, the app that allows you to manage your phone from a PC, exchanging files, responding to messages and calls and much more.

The bug is certainly not negligible, given that it slows down the PC by absorbing up to 10% of CPU resources, but the fact that it appeared in an Insider build is positive: it means that Microsoft will be able to fix it before releasing the update, avoiding a large number of problems and complaints from users.
