PS5 received the new one in these minutes system updatewhich among other things introduces the announced support for the voice chat on Discord and several other new features, in what is called update 24.04-09.40.00 of 13 June 2024.
In practice, the update that had been announced with the description of support for Discord’s voice chat was made available in the following hours with this one, which however also introduces some other new features for PS5, available with the update to firmware.
Among the notes we also find an extension of the functionality for the children’s accounts on PS5 and an expansion of compatibility with some accessories, in particular with Pulse headphones, as we see in the official update notes.
All the details of the 24.04-09.40.00 update to the PS5 firmware
According to what is reported on the official PlayStation website, the firmware 24.04-09.40.00 introduces various interesting elements, once installed.
We start with the features linked to accounts for children, who can now also connect children to their profile third party services to increase the gaming possibilities.
Younger users with a children’s account can therefore connect their PSN account on PS5 with others, such as Discord, Spotify, YouTube and Twitch, so they can use the console’s integrated services.
Connected to this, new ones have been introduced checks for parentswho can now modify access to third-party services for accounts dedicated to minors and control their use.
Probably the most significant addition is given by the possibility of starting Discord voice chat directly from PS5, starting directly from enabling the option in the control center, selecting the Discord tag and thus allowing access to servers and direct calls.
Another update concerns the support software for wireless headphones Pulse Elite, Pulse Explore and for the PlayStation Link USB adapter, with improvements to the stability of data transmission and the correction of some problems detected with the peripherals in question.
In addition to this, obviously an improvement in performance and safety could not be missing system stabilityas well as improving messages and their use on “some screens”.
