This Samsung TV costs “only” 150 thousand dollars: that’s why it’s special

Samsung has started a new mission: to sell MicroLED televisions huge and very expensive. The undertaking this time is no small feat, because the three options offered at the moment, namely i 89, 101 and 114 inch panels they have prices starting from 110 thousand dollars. Yes, you understood correctly: they probably cost more than your house (certainly more than mine, sigh).

However, if you don’t want to make yourself look like a bum by aiming for the “cheaper” 89-inch model, you can choose the 101-inch model at 130 thousand dollars or do things right, add twenty thousand dollars and get yourself a nice 114 inches for just $150,000.

How do you say? Did you want to spend a lot more? No problem, Samsung has thought of you aspiring Elon Musks: each TV in the MicroLED range is in fact bezel-less, meaning it has practically no edges and is therefore modular. All you need to do is get four TVs and you will have enough inches to overcome any self-esteem deficit that your psychologist has now given up on treating.

Why is MicroLED special?

The image only conveys the dimensions of these MicroLEDs up to a certain point

Easy irony aside, there is a reason why TVs in this category (still) cost so much and it’s not a question of size. The giant 115-inch TCL costs “only” 25 thousand euros; however, it is a MiniLED.

That MicroLED is a different technology and more expensive, even if the name could be somewhat misleading. MicroLED works more like an OLED than an LED because it is self-emitting; unlike OLEDs, however, it should not have any risk of burn-in problems, while still offering deep blacks and high contrast. As we were saying, the LEDs are assembled in frameless panels so that they can be installed in almost any configuration, as we have seen with The Wall displays intended for commercial applications or the most luxurious homes.

In 2021, Samsung introduced a 110-inch model that looked more like a regular TV without modular options, which it continued to work on into the TVs we see today. On the other hand, Advanced TV is the only market that is growing among the TV ones, so the Korean company’s investment makes absolute sense.

How do you say? Has all this talk convinced you to buy one? Well, we’re sorry but apparently you can’t: they’re already finished. All MicroLED TVs listed on the US version of Samsung’s online store are currently listed as “out of stock”. Kind of like our bank account after just trying to enter our credit card information on the site.
