A well-known leaker talks about Square Enix’s plans for Final Fantasy 9, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts and more

During the Summer Game Fest – between the Keighley Showcase and other dedicated events – we will have the chance to discover many new features from many different publishers. One of these will be for sure Square Enix, the company behind Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and Dragon Quest. Now, a known one leaker he had his say on various company projects.

Let’s talk about Midori, a well-known leaker that started around the Atlus/SEGA rumors and is now expanding to other Japanese publishers. Various leaks from him have turned out to be correct, so we can assume that he is sharing information that is not false this time around too.

Midori’s information on Square Enix games

In a series of tweets, Midori explained that Final Fantasy 9 Remake it is still in development. It was not cancelled, but was previously being worked on by an external team: Square Enix, however, was not satisfied with what had been achieved and brought production back in-house. Development is already very advanced at this point, but the source has no information on the type of remake (it is not expected to be at the level of Final Fantasy 7 Remake) and does not have a release date. It could arrive by the end of March 2025, but that’s not certain. It also confirms that it will be a cross-platform game.

He then adds that Square Enix will present some new information about its games atXbox Showcase, but Midori doesn’t know what these products are. At the Nintendo Direct, however, Dragon Quest 2D-HD will be present and states that it will not only be the third game but the entire trilogy. However, there don’t seem to be any surprises for the Summer Game Fest Showcase.

Finally, it seems that we can expect to discover new information on Missing Link – the Kingdom Hearts mobile game – and a collaboration with Fortnite, before receiving information on Kingdom Hearts 4.

If you are interested in the upcoming announcements, the games that we will not see and which will certainly be at the Summer Game Fest Showcase have been officially indicated.
