Do you remember when you were little and told that appearance isn’t important? That’s not true, at least not for many gamers who are just starting out to harass the remake of Silent Hill 2 with criticism after seeing Angela Orosco’s modelguilty of having a normal appearance compared to the original, in which she was objectively thinner.
The remake of Silent Hill 2 is in development at Bloober Team. During the recent State of Play, the trailer was published which revealed the release date: October 8, 2024. It also showed various aspects of the gameplay, such as the combat system, as well as some characters, such as Maria and, indeed, Angela.
According to X user Klein Harvey, who has contacts within Bloober Team and Konami, this is Angela’s final design, as confirmed to him by a member of the development team. There will therefore be no changes.
According to X user LearningTheLaw, the choice of this design came from having hired a consulting firm which deals with inclusiveness in video games, Hit Detection, although it should be noted that this is speculation and that there is nothing confirmed. Although it is likely that the team was advised to humanize the character, we do not know the margin of freedom they had in choosing the final model.
As you can imagine, there is no shortage of controversy even for Maria’s new appearance, according to the most critics not adequately sexualizedconsidering his role in the game.
I’m just gonna come out and say it: the old Maria character design was objectively better.
