As expected a few months ago, the family ofAlfa Romeothe one composed in particular of Giulia And Stelviowill not be part of the American car park for the 2025 vintage. The hard blow for the stars and stripes automotive panorama has already affected, in the same period, other models now out of production such as the Chevrolet Camaro, the Maserati Ghibli, the Mitsubishi Mirage and the Ram 1500 TRX.
However, it seems that this prestigious Italian absence is temporary as the Italian brand is intensifying its revival efforts in other markets, especially European ones. Although the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV remain the oldest offerings since the last update, Alfa Romeo has quickly launched several new models throughout 2024.
In this way, in some way, Alfa Romeo wanted to break it status quo, thus breaking with the brand’s previous stagnation. The Tonale compact SUV marked the Biscione’s entry into hybrid territory with its plug-in hybrid version. In addition to this, there was the long-awaited return of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale supercar, reserved for 33 lucky buyers, available in both the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 variant and the fully electric version.
None of these innovations comes close to the impact of the latest arrival: the fully electric compact SUV, the first electric production vehicle produced by the brand, closely related to the other B-class CUVs of the Stellantis group. Initially named Alfa Romeo Milano, this model raised controversy over its name association, leading to a quick renaming to Junior, harking back to the legacy of the Giulia coupés of the 1960s.
Those reporting that the next Giulia will abandon internal combustion engines in favor of electrification are not just rumors, thus following recent trends on the European market and outside the Old Continent.
Dimas Ramadhan, of the YouTube channel “Digimods DESIGN” has already imagined the Giulia as a hybrid sedan rather than a fully electric one. In a rendering, tradition and innovation come together for a reinterpretation of the “Type 952”.
