While fans anxiously await the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, which is expected to be in the second half of 2024, those looking to purchase a new Korean smartphone may find themselves struggling to choose between a Galaxy S23 and a Galaxy S24. But what exactly changes between the two smartphone lines? Here are the main differences.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S24 ON AMAZONLet’s start with the basic and Plus models: the most important differences here concern the screen and the design, since the Samsung Galaxy S24 are slightly larger (in fact, it goes from a 6.1″ screen to a 6.17″ on the model vanilla and from 6.6″ to 6.7″ on the Plus) and have more rounded corners than their predecessors. The peak brightness also increases – significantly – and rises from 1,750 to 2,600 nitswhile from this year the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus have a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, which is missing on the Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus.
However, even under the body there are some significant differences: this year, i Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus use an Exynos 2400 SoC, more powerful than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen2 that Samsung opted for last year. While the basic model maintains the single 8 GB RAM cut, the Plus also gets the 12 GB variant, which was missing on the counterpart old-gen. There has also been a small (imperceptible) increase in battery capacity, while the big news is the seven years of updates promised by Samsungby virtue of the new Galaxy S24 update policy.
Moving on to the Ultra model, however, the hardware innovations are different: first of all, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is also available in titanium, while the S23 Ultra is on sale only in the aluminum alloy model. Under the hood, there is the usual I’m jumping from the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 to the Snapdragon 8 Gen3, in line with the annual update of Qualcomm SoCs, while the RAM, storage, battery and the bulk of the cameras remain unchanged. However, the main telephoto lens of the smartphone changes, going from a 10 MP zoom lens to a 50MP periscope telephoto lens: the quality of the photos is grateful, even if the optical zoom is reduced from 10x to 5x.
