While Apple is increasingly focusing on AI, in Italy and beyond users are reporting the “disappearance” of an item from their iPhones which until a few hours ago was highlighted by the iOS 17 operating system.
The issue caught everyone a bit off guard, given that there were no official communications from the Cupertino company: at the beginning of May 2024 it is reported the disappearance of the Apple News widget, which clearly serves to keep an eye on the news of the day. Well, now it seems that no one can access it in our area anymore (as we have had the opportunity to verify on multiple devices).
And from MacRumors forum that we learn that the issue is widespread at a European level and not only in Italy, given that there is no shortage of reports from Germany. Confirmations, however, also come from Switzerland and other countries, which suggests more of a precise decision by Apple than a bug, even if for the moment there is a lack of clear information on the matter.
While the reports are multiplying on the Web, also considering that it is a widget linked to a significant service (i.e. news), we can only wait for any official communications on the issue.
For the rest, we are starting to think that it is something related to the most recent European regulations involving Apple.
