As we have already reported to you, the BlizzCon 2024 was cancelled. It was an unpleasant announcement for many enthusiasts, some of whom began to assume that Microsoft, owner of Blizzard. Is that so? Absolutely not.

In a statement provided to Windows Central, a representative from Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that the cancellation of BlizzCon 2024 was a decision by Blizzard itself and not Microsoft’s, as the company believes that while it has a lot to share over the course of this year, the timing is “not right for a single event.”

“This is Blizzard’s decision,” the Blizzard representative. “We’ve explored different event formats in the past, and this isn’t the first time we’ve skipped BlizzCon or tried something new. While we have great things to share in 2024, the timing isn’t right for a single event at the end of year”.

But what are the new things coming from the company? We already know that Blizzard Entertainment will publish Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred and World of Warcraft: The War Within later in the year and the company intends to give them a dedicated and independent space.

“We want instead focus on enhancing individual games and their moments – the multiple anniversaries of Warcraft, the upcoming releases of World of Warcraft: The War Within, and Diablo 4’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred in particular,” the Blizzard representative said.

The lack of BlizzCon therefore does not mean that Blizzard does not want to organize presentations and events for its games.
