A petition against the censorship of Stellar Blade has popped up, seriously
Descriptive text here

Stellar Blade is among us, although apparently there is someone who really didn’t like the game, or at least its “spicy” contents.

The new PS5 exclusive developed by Shift Up (which you can get on Amazon) has in any case already won over players.

It’s also true that some sterile controversies about the protagonist’s design had sparked discussion in the community, but apparently it didn’t end there.

Now, as also reported by Tech4Gamerthe day-one patch added the censorship of some clothes and gore. This little detail brought it to life a petition that has reached 13 thousand signatures at the time of writing.

This petition was created by Mark Kern, one of the original designers of World of Warcraft.

“What we received after our good faith purchase was not the same as advertised”, writes Kern. In recent weeks, however, he had made himself known for targeting the overseas gaming press, claiming that Stellar Blade it would have certainly been scuttled in the reviews because it didn’t conform to the “woke” vision, whatever that means – which however didn’t happen, considering the excellent ratings the game received.

Furthermore, in recent weeks Kern has been at the center of numerous clashes on X – from which he claims to have been «shadow-banned», i.e. that your account would no longer be found by carrying out a search which involved numerous exponents of specialized journalism, including the newspaper Kotakuwith attacks directed in particular at an editor of the site, labeled on social media as “woke” and therefore aimed at ruining video games – whatever that means too, yes.

As already known, Stellar Blade it was marketed as uncensored in all regions. This is therefore the main reason for the dispute, with players claiming to have spent money to play what was advertised, while the work would differ in some of the protagonist’s outfits and some gore moments. As you can imagine, however, what seems to be the most popular in the public debate are the skimpy clothes and not the level of violence in the game.

Even though the petition was created just a day ago, it has grown rather quickly – thanks to the discussions with anything but calm tones brought to X by Kern and other characters who https://twitter.com/alyssa_merc/status/1782394806666174816.

The issue received such a response that director Kim Hyung Tae was consulted in person.

Tae responded that Shift Up is discussing the issue, considering the possibility of go back to the pre-patch version of the outfits (in addition to the clothes, fans noticed a smaller amount of blood in the final version).

In any case, controversies aside, in our review of the game we explained to you that «given due proportions, Stellar Blade can be defined as the Nier Automata of this generation of consoles, not only for the obvious similarities in terms of plot, gameplay and setting, but because Shift Up has succeeded in the not easy task of putting together a frenetic yet discreetly technical combat system with a small but memorable cast of characters, seasoning everything with a soundtrack of great depth”.
