BMW updates the 4 Series Gran Coupé and the i4, the progenitors of the flexible traction system architecture which will be launched in July 2024.
Aesthetically they show off a newly developed double kidney grille, with a semi-closed surface for the i4, and with a mesh structure. The typical BMW grille features a matt chrome frame which can also be made in glossy black (optional). The design of the light signatures changes, the adaptive LED headlights with anti-glare matrix high beams arrive, and, among the accessories, we find the exclusive Laserlight rear lights in the style of the M4 CSL.
The M Sport Package features the rear diffuser in high-gloss Black and tailpipes with a diameter larger than 100 millimeters. And to make them even sportier, the M Sport Pro package and the M Carbon exterior package are available. The picture of the innovations relating to the car body is completed by the new 19-inch M aerodynamic wheels and the 20-inch BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels with double-spoke design, both among the accessories, in addition to the new New Cape York metallic and Fire Red metallic liveries.
The interiors with a premium atmosphere are characterized by the BMW Curved Display from which to manage the iDrive infotainment system with QuickSelect based on the BMW Operating System 8.5 and by newly designed steering wheels: the two-spoke steering wheel with polygonal edge and illuminated multifunction buttons is series; and the three-spoke M one with flat lower edge and zero point in red or red and decorative stitching in the M colors for the M Performance models, however, is among the accessories. Furthermore, for models with a combustion engine there are also gear shift paddles on the steering wheel as standard.
Sports seats in perforated Sensatec are also included in the cars’ equipment, while those with black surfaces made of the new M Performtex fabric are part of the M Sport package or are standard in the M Performance models.
Now, the ventilation and climate control functions and also the seat and steering wheel heating, the latter accessory, can be managed with the touch screen or through voice commands. Finally, ambient lighting also involves the air vents. In terms of powertrain, the BMW i4 is now available in four variants: eDrive35; eDrive40; xDrive40; and M50 xDrive.
With the new i4 xDrive40 capable of delivering 401 HP and guaranteeing a range of between 444-548 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
This electric car offers charging in alternating current at 11 kW and in direct current up to 205 kW (i4 eDrive35 up to 180 kW); it is suitable for Connected Home Charging, and is compatible with Plug & Charge Multi Contract.
The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé can be chosen with two four-cylinder petrol engines, a six-cylinder in-line diesel unit and a four-cylinder diesel, with the six-cylinder in-line engines and the four-cylinder diesel unit cylinders equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology. Furthermore, it uses the eight-speed Steptronic Sport gearbox as standard for all engine variants. Finally, you can choose between the rear-wheel drive variants and those with the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system.
To emphasize the dynamics of these cars, BMW offers, as standard, electromechanical steering with Servotronic function, integrated braking system and wheel slip limitation. Among the accessories, for the variants with the M Sport package, we include the M Sport suspension, the M adaptive suspension with variable sports steering, and the M Sport brakes.
Furthermore, the BMW i4 is equipped with rear air suspension as standard.
Among the driving aids, standard equipment includes speed limit warning, forward collision warning, parking assistant, reversing camera and reversing assistant. While the Driving Assistant Professional with steering assistant and lane control and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, as well as Parking Assistant Plus are available as options.
