Sea of Thieves on PS5 shows some differences compared to Xbox, per Digital Foundry
Descriptive text here

Sea of Thieves It’s another ex-Xbox exclusive to arrive on PS5and just this version was recently analyzed by Digital Foundry in one of the classic technical examinations of the British column, revealing some differences interesting with previous versions.

In general, the appearance is completely similar to that of the Xbox and PC versions (except obviously for the increases that the latter allows to obtain depending on the hardware configuration) but there is one element that stands out as a difference: a better visualization of shadows on PS5, which is somewhat strange.

This is, in fact, the same element of difference that also emerged in Hi-Fi Rush: compared to generally equivalent graphics, shadow management appears different and better on PS5, which is also accompanied by a detail level slightly higher on some elements of the scenario seen from a certain distance (vegetation, in particular).

Le Chuck is in great form in Sea of Thieves

The differences in this sense are difficult to explain, considering that they should not derive from differences in hardware potential, and are perhaps linked to recent updates applied on the PS5 version, as also hypothesized for Hi-Fi Rush, considering that in the latter the shadows of the Xbox version are equivalent to those of the PC version, which should count on much greater upward scalability.

For the rest, the data regarding the resolution are practically the same, i.e. 4K on PS5 and Series X (while Series S goes to 1080p) and no presence of standard anti-aliasing. On the frame-rate front, the Xbox Series 120 fps in the specific mode, which was not possible to test on PS5 because it was still a beta version.

Some problems emerged precisely due to the fact that the build examined is far from definitive, being a beta: during the test, Sea of Thieves on PS5 also encountered a disastrous block that forced a reboot, as well as another crash that demonstrated how the software is not yet in stable version.

We remind you that the release date of Sea of Thieves on PS5 is set for April 30, while the game has meanwhile exceeded 40 million players worldwide.
