A Swedish car up for auction, a model that is practically impossible to find and one of a kind. Whoever bought it got a bargain
Scandinavian cars are perhaps not among the most renowned in the world, especially if we deal with a large audience. But if we talk about enthusiasts, there is certainly a brand that no one will ignore.
We are referring to the Swedish house Volvoin whose past there are some iconic and often little-remembered cars that deserve a second chance like the model we will tell you about below.
To be precise, it is one Volvo 1800 ES, i.e. the car called to succeed the P1800 line. The latter was a coupé-type car with a design by the Turin-based Frua and a rather attractive sporting style. The Swedish company had produced it starting from 1961 and then until 1973, when production was oriented towards the new Volvo 480.
With the Volvo 1800 ES, the Swedish company wanted to consolidate its position within the European sports car sector. Of the 1800 ES, the Swedish company also produced a “shooting brake” version, mixing sporty style with that of the station wagon. He also included a truly innovative detail for the time, namely a glass rear hatch which would later become a design solution common to many similar subsequent models.

The Volvo that we suggest, however, is a truly unique model also due to the history of this very particular car. The basic characteristics are those of the car created by Volvo with a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder B20E engine, capable of generating 125 HP of power.
A perfectly functional car for connoisseurs that will satisfy the palate of the most refined enthusiasts from a technical point of view and beyond. Well one of the 1800 ES has been put up for auction with a further modification to make it even more unique.
Basically this Volvo 1800 ES has been transformed into a different car thanks to the addition of a rear bulkhead and a cargo bed which come from a Subaru BRAT. The model was auctioned on the well-known specialized site ‘Bring a Trailer’ with an initial price of 6 thousand dollars. It was sold on Sunday 14 April for 14 thousand, a very low price with which the lucky buyer guaranteed himself a real heirloom.
