Polestar 4, we saw it up close

THERE IS NO 2 WITHOUT 3 – The Polestar 4 it is the third car sold in Italy by the Swedish electric car brand owned by the Chinese giant Geely. Short (she is 154 cm tall, not enough for a car 484 cm long), wide and streamlined, in terms of dimensions and prices (here to find out more) is halfway between the Polestar 2 sedan and the large Polestar 3 SUV.

COUPÉ-LIKE AND WITHOUT REAR WINDOW – The look of the Polestar 4 winks at the coupés: the front (in which the sharp LED lights stand out which “split” to form a sort of inverted “Y”) is low, the roof has an arched shape and the tail, short and tapered , ends with a hint of a spoiler, emphasized by a thin light strip that extends across the entire width. But the most original aspect is theabsence of the rear window: what looks like a traditional rear-view mirror, in reality, is a monitor that projects the images taken by the rear camera in high definition (mounted on the roof and not on the bumper, to avoid damage in case of “touches” in parking lots).

MINIMALISM IN POWER – Lo “clean” style of the bodywork is also found in the interior. In the wide passenger compartment from the Polestar 4, made very bright by the glass roof that extends beyond the comfortable rear seats, keys and buttons almost completely disappear. In the dashboard (divided into two levels, the lowest of which connects seamlessly to the door panels) the responsive screen 15.4″ touch-screen of the multimedia system, which has an Android operating system and most of the on-board functions upgradeable “over the air”. Entirely digital, the dashboard it has a diagonal of 10.2″ and is integrated with a head-up display which projects the main information relating to the vehicle, road signs and navigator instructions onto the windscreen.

RISING UNDER SAFETYA – Great attention is paid to safety: the Polestar 4 it has 9 airbags and is equipped with a dozen cameras and as many perimeter sensors that manage the most advanced assistance systems driving, from adaptive cruise control with lane keeping system (which allows the car to drive alone on the motorway, always keeping your hands on the steering wheel), to blind spot monitoring with active steering correction, to automatic braking emergency with the recognition of pedestrians and cyclists.

TWO ENGINES, TWO SOULS – As for the range, the Polestar 4 it is offered in two versions: Long Range, driven by a single 272 HP motor connected to the rear wheels, and Long Range AWD, which with a current unit for each axle can count on a combined power of 544 HP and 4×4 traction. Both have one drums from 102 kWh and in direct current yes recharge at a maximum power of 200 kW and promises aautonomy Of 610 km for the “basic” version and of 580 km for the more powerful one. The latter adds a lot in terms of performance without costing too much more and can be equipped with the Performance package (€4,500), which includes sportier tuning and a more powerful braking system from Brembo. The Polestar 4 can already be ordered in Italy with prices starting from 66,750 euros and deliveries expected from August.
