Snapdragon X Elite tested with Control: how does it perform?
Descriptive text here

Qualcomm has repeatedly underlined how Snapdragon X Elite is able to run most games via emulation and without the direct intervention of developers. After the tests of recent days which saw Baldur’s Gate 3 as the protagonist, the American company’s new SoC was put to the test with another game capable of making even the most powerful GPUs tremble.
This time he is at center stage Control: How does Snapdragon X Elite perform on Remedy’s game released in 2019? Let’s find out together.

The Control test

Control is capable of challenging even the most powerful GPUs

Just a few days ago Snapdragon X Elite showed off good performance, running Baldur’s Gate 3 at around 30 FPS with a resolution of 1080p.
Now we know that tests were also performed on Control: at the same resolution and with low details, the new Qualcomm chip was able to reach 40 FPS. Unfortunately, at the moment, not all the conditions of the test are known and we do not know if upscalers were used. Furthermore, the tests were performed in rather quiet moments of gameplay and we therefore do not know whether the same performances can be achieved even in the most agitated phasesas in the most intense fights.

That said, Control is a game that, at maximum capacity and at high resolutions, is capable of making even the most recent graphics cards sweat, especially if ray tracing is brought into play. For Snapdragon X Elite and its integrated GPU the starting numbers therefore do not seem so bad.

The features of Snapdragon X Elite

In a recent panel, Qualcomm stated that its new processor it is capable of running most titles without any intervention from the developers. The engineers of the American giant have proposed three different approaches for developers: porting titles to ARM64, the creation of hybrid “ARM64EC” applications and finally emulation.

In this last case Snapdragon X Elite would already be ready to support the main titles available on the market. To know how much of all this corresponds to reality we will have to wait for the release of the first laptops equipped with the Qualcomm SoC, expected in the coming months.
