PESCARA. Time to take stock also for soccer referees. The season is being summed up, both regionally and nationally. Then, this week, the Aia will release the list of members promoted and failed and will communicate the rosters for the next competitive season. As for Abruzzo, it should be said that the regional committee chaired by Giuseppe De Santis (Avezzano) has been confirmed and will remain in office for the next two years. And, as usual, it will manage the referees, assistants and observers of the regional soccer and futsal championships.

The other prominent news is the dismissal (technical term that equates to failure) from the Serie A team of Giacomo Camplone from Pescara. The referee had been promoted in 2019. Those were the days of Nicchi. He was the first referee from Pescara to reach the top division after 60 years. Last season, Rocchi did not fully convince and should leave the Serie A and B team. On the other hand, referee Gabriele Scatena from Avezzano should move up from Lega Pro, thus entering the elite group of Italian referees. There should be no surprises in the list of referees promoted from the region, those referees used in Eccellenza last season and who will be designated outside the region before being stabilized in Serie D.

The list should include the names of Nico Pellegrini from Teramo, Antonio Diella from Vasto and Pietro Sivilli. As for the assistants, Abruzzo Federico Cocco from Lanciano, Gianmarco Cocciolone from L’Aquila, Federico Ameli from Teramo, Steven Terrenzi from Pescara will move up. Among the promoted observers Nicola Petrosemolo from Lanciano and Roberto Di Pietrantonio from Teramo. Two five-a-side football referees will move up to the national level, namely Baldassarre from Vasto and Matteo Ferrante from Pescara. At the inter-regional level, there should be the following new additions: the referee Ciro Aldi from Lanciano from Can D to Lega Pro; the assistants Giuseppe Bosco from Lanciano and Fabio D’Ettorre from Avezzano from Can D to Lega Pro. The list of assistants dismissed from Lega Pro could also include Alessio Miccoli from Lanciano and Fabio Dell’Arciprete from Vasto. Conditional is a must, because these are previews awaiting confirmation over the weekend. (r.c.)
