Tennis Giotto celebrates promotion to B2. The goal was reached by the Serie C men’s team which, made up exclusively of athletes who grew up in the nursery, closed its sporting season with victory in the Play Off final against New Tennis Torre del Greco and thus deserved the leap to category. This achievement has a historic value for the Arezzo club which, for the first time, will be able to boast three teams in the national championships: in fact, a third will now be added to the two men’s and women’s teams which will be involved in A2 from October team that will play in B2 from 2025.

The protagonists of the promotion were Alessio Bulletti, Francesco Cartocci, Raffaele Ciurnelli, Lorenzo De Vizia, Filippo Fratini, Manuel Pampaloni, Andrea Pecorella, Filippo Pichi and Francesco Rossi, a mix of expert tennis players and young promises from the youth sector who were well alternated on the court by captains Giovanni Ciacci and Fabio Pichi. The championship had started with third place in the initial round which was worth access to the regional Play Offs where Tennis Giotto had first overcome Tennis Certaldo and then At Bibbiena, achieving the goal of qualifying for the national phase against the Campania team New Tennis Torre del Greco. The promotion goal had already been secured in the first leg in Ercolano with a clear 6-0 victory for the Arezzo team thanks to the victories in the singles by Cartocci, Ciurnelli, De Vizia and Pecorella, and in the doubles by the Cartocci-De Vizia and Pecorella-Ciurnelli pairs, then the last points were scored by Ciurnelli and Pecorella in the return match on the home courts where the party then began with the many supporters present including members, fans, athletes, technicians and club managers.

For Tennis Giotto, this is the third promotion of the senior teams in 2024: in recent weeks, in fact, the two D2 men’s and women’s teams were the ones to rejoice, both having achieved the leap to D1. The first to celebrate were the girls by virtue of the 3-1 victory in the Play Off round over the San Miniato coach, with Rachele Bacciarini, Sofia Macis, Carlotta Melani, Sofia Pierdonati and Bianca Vannelli who then continued their journey in the scoreboard regional and who stopped their run only at the Tuscan semi-finals. Saverio Biliotti, Matteo Biondini, Gianmarco Cartocci, Matteo Comanducci, Vittorio Martinelli and Flavio Valois are the tennis players fielded by captain Paolo Rossi in the men’s D2: first place in the initial group with four successes in four matches was followed by success in the Play Off against Tennis Pisa 3-1 which opened the doors for the jump to D1.

«The greatest satisfaction – comments the sporting director Francesco Benci – is to have achieved these three promotions with teams of young people who have mainly fielded boys and girls who grew up in our club, confirming the excellence of the “Giotto model” from the nursery to the ‘senior activity’.
