Milan Under 23 in Serie C, it’s official

From now on it is official, Milan under 23 is in Serie C and will participate in the third national series in the 2024-2025 season. The Federal Council today made the entry official. Not that it was a mystery – it was known for some time that Milan would have a second team and take Ancona’s place – but the next 48 hours will better define little Milan’s first season. Tomorrow 28 June at 11am, at the Lega Pro headquarters, there will be the group draw, a non-trivial step. By regulation, Juventus, Atalanta and Milan will have to be in three different groups: one in group A, one in group B, especially one in group C, with logical difficulties resulting from long away trips and particularly hot pitches for kids accustomed to youth football. Obviously it won’t be a definitive assignment: there will be a rotation over the next two years.

who plays

Milan is getting ready. They have chosen their coach: Daniele Bonera, on Stefano Pioli’s staff until May. They have found their home pitch: the Solbiate Arno stadium, three kilometres from Milanello. They have decided that the Under 23 team will train a few metres from the first team, with whom there will be constant contact. And they have called Jovan Kirovski from the United States as their reference manager. The team, obviously experimental, will be a close relative of Ignazio Abate’s Primavera, which reached the Youth League final. Francesco Camarda, Kevin Zeroli, Alex Jimenez, Chaka Traore, Hugo Cuenca, Noah Raveyre, probably Davide Bartesaghi and other former Primavera players will have a place in the squad. The team will inevitably be very young, with two players who are particularly being watched. Camarda is the first: he has just signed a pro contract, became European Under 17 champion with the national team, and met Marco van Basten publicly. The second is Maximilian Ibrahimovic, born in 2006, Zlatan’s first son, who should have a place in the team.

two purchases

However, C is obviously and historically complex, so Milan will support the young players with some players with experience in the category. Will they be enough? Time will tell. Antonio D’Ottavio, AC Milan’s sporting director, is working on the practice. Two players are almost certain: Mbarick Fall, striker (now) ex Giana Erminio from 1997, and Gabriele Minotti, defender, same team from, born in 2001. 60 days to go: August 25th, first match.
