Test Match: South Africa’s lineup for the match against Wales

Ahead of their first international match of 2024, South Africa has announced the lineup that will challenge Warren Gatland’s Wales next Saturday at 3pm in Twickenham. Below is the line up selected by Rassie Erasmus.

In the XV which will be captained by Pieter-Steph du Toit, who in the third line will share the other flanker Kwagga Smith and number 8 Evan Roos, the attacking midfield will see Aphelele Fassi occupy the slot at fullback, while on the wings there will be the debutant Edwill van der Merwe and Makazole Mapimpi, with Andre Esterhuizen and Jesse Kriel in the center and the duo Faf de Klerk-Jordan Hendriks in midfield, with the latter also uncapped.

Among the forwards, known as the third line, the ultra-luxury couple formed by Eben Etzebeth and Franco Mostert will be in the “engine room”, who will ideally have props Ox Nche and Vincent Koch and hooker Malcolm Marx in front of them.
