Two Piacenza Rugby athletes, Inza Dene and Tommaso Roda, were among the protagonists of the 9th “Pier Paolo Bonori” Memorial, which took place on 15 and 16 June 2024 at the “Pier Paolo Bonori” Sports Center in via Romita in Bologna.

Both militants in the U18 of the Omnia Project and already returning from various international commitments, they were also among the twelve players selected by the Emilia-Romagna Committee (CRER) to represent the region in this prestigious international Under 18 rugby sevens tournament.

The tournament, organized by the Bologna Rugby Club with the support of the Bonori family, the patronage of the Municipality of Bologna and the Navile District, as well as the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) and the CRER, saw the participation of the Under 18 regional selections of Emilia-Romagna. Romagna, Campania, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Puglia and Tuscany, as well as the selection of Germany.

Over the weekend, the young athletes played a total of 20 matches, each lasting 14 minutes (7 minutes per half), with each team playing a total of five matches. The Emilia-Romagna selection, with Dene and Roda among its ranks, achieved a respectable fourth place. The final victory went to Germany, followed by Toscana and Lazio, in second and third place respectively.
