PORTO VIRO (Rovigo) – Big score in the band for the Delta Group Porto Viro: the Greek international arrives from Puliservice Acqua S.Bernardo Cuneo Charalampos Andreopoulosborn in 2001, 192 centimeters tall.

Last year Andreopoulos was Porto Viro’s opponent in seven official matches between the regular season, playoffs and Italian Cupa more than enough “showcase” to convince the Nerofuchsia management to focus on his qualities for the next Serie A2 Credem Banca championship.

The Athenian place four, moreover, is a sort of predestined. At just 16 years old he joined the Panathinaikos first team, under the orders of his father Dimitris, the green and white head coach. In five seasons with “Pana”, from 2017 to 2022 he won two league titles and two League Cups, in the meantime he also completed the entire process in the Greek youth selections, arriving at his first call-up to the senior national team in 2019. His debut in Italy dates back to two seasons ago, with Gioiella Prisma Taranto in the SuperLega. His overall score in Serie A championships so far is 57 appearances and 310 points on the scoresheet.

“I chose to come to Delta – explains Andreopoulos – because I felt the trust of the club, which had already made an excellent impression on me in the matches in which we faced each other last year. The Porto Viro Palasport is very ‘noisy’, the fans are warm, I think it is a beautiful pitch to play on. I can’t wait to get started, I’m happy that the team that is being created is young and full of talent.”

Last season was Andreopoulos’ first in Serie A2: “I was really struck by the level of play, so many promising guys but also so many athletes who have great experience behind them. Next year I expect a championship as difficult as last year’s, if not more so. My goal is to help the team achieve its objectives and grow as an individual thanks to the work we will do in the gym. I don’t think there is a secret ingredient to winning, the most important goals are achieved when the group trains, always remaining focused and following a well-defined program.”

At 23, Andreopoulous is one of the Delta Group players, but he can already boast some important past with the Greek Senior National Team: “I participated in the 2021 European Championships and it was a great experience, while this summer, at the end of August, we will have the qualifiers for the 2026 European Championships. I consider myself very lucky, I have had the opportunity to face very strong players from all over the world for a few years now and this allows me to know which aspects of my game I still need to work on to improve.”
