Great success for the fifth edition of BERGHEM#molamia. Once again the innovative cycling Granfondo recorded an increase in popularity and participation, also an indication of the excellent organizational work of the SC Gazzanighese and of the entire group of collaborators coordinated by the president Mauro Zinetti and by the tireless Rita Trapletti And Paola Bertolathe creators of the event.
The event, one of the most popular in the amateur cycling scene, saw 1,617 athletes at the start (149 women and 1468 men) coming from all over Italy and even from abroad. The good weather contributed to the perfect execution of a day of celebration, on a route that offered the breathtaking landscapes of the Orobic valleys and a glimpse of Lake Iseo. A multitude of cyclists filled the streets of Bergamo and, with their hundreds of colorful uniforms, cheered up the area as they passed.
By now, as per tradition, already on Saturday 15 June Gazzaniga began to come alive with the distribution of bibs and rich race packs. In the evening, starting from 6pm, the big party with the Notte Gialla. Fashion shows, street food, modeling, children’s games, music, DJs and many other initiatives. In addition to the authorities present, they also intervened Alfredo Maffeisgroup leader of the Alpine troops and Anselm Cortinovisrepresenting the traders of Gazzaniga.
Among the illustrious guests who lined up with their bicycles at the start of the BERGHEM#molamia, the former professional from Bergamo, winner of two Giro d’Italia, Paolo Savoldelli, the professionist Davide Persicowho grew up in the Gazzanighese nursery, the other former professional from Seria Beppe “Turbo” Gueriniwinner of a stage of the Tour de France at Alpe d’Huez, the former cyclist Silvia Pollicinithe Eurosport commentator Luca Gregoriothe Mediaset weather announcer Stefania Andriolathe national president of ACSI Emiliano Borgnathe president of the Mountain Community of Scalve and mayor of Colere Gabriele Bettineschi and the mayor of Gazzaniga Mattia Merelli.
A feature of the Granfondo that is increasingly appreciated by cyclists is the formula of timed sections alternating with long cycling touring sections, designed to enhance the Orobic Prealps. Along the way the abundant refreshment points provided a moment of further joy.
On Sunday at 7 am sharp, the fifth edition of BERGHEM#molamia kicked off from the historic center of Gazzaniga (BG). These are the three routes on which more than 1,600 cyclists were able to try their hand:
the Kurt of 72.3 km – 13 km time trial – 864 m. time difference in altitude – total altitude difference: 1,247;
the Mézz of 115 km – 16.5 km time trial – 1,112 m. time difference in altitude – total altitude difference: 2,168;
the Lonk (Randonnée) of 183 km – 16.5 km time trial – 1,112 m. time difference in altitude – total altitude difference: 3,350;
The organization and formula of the cycling tour with timed sections and rich refreshment points were passed with flying colors, as was the final Casoncello party which cheered up all the participants after their efforts on the bicycle.
The president of SC Gazzanighese Mauro Zinetti he has declared: “We managed to once again stage an extraordinary event with more than 1600 participants. Lots of people showed us their gratitude with a smile on their faces. This has always been our aim: to give people an unforgettable day and it seems to me that we have succeeded in our aim. The thanks are many; first of all my group of collaborators, starting with Rita and Paola. They never give up and always try to give their best, giving their heart to what we do together. I thank the administration of Gazzaniga who always shows such availability. I thank the Traffic Police, the Carabinieri and the local police because they guarantee safety. I thank the volunteers who man the route and the traders of Gazzaniga for their support during the Yellow Night. We are in a lucky and wonderful area because every time we find open doors and we find many entrepreneurs who want to help us enhance our territory”.
