For Pogačar and his companions, among them the Belgian Tim Wellens and the Spaniards Juan Ayuso and Marc Solerit was not the first ascent to the 2020 meters of the sanctuary of Sant’Anna di Vinadio, reached after climbing the Lombarda hill.
Pogačar is refining his condition in view of the Grand Départ in Florence on Saturday 29 June; On Monday 1st July the third stage, Piacenza-Turin, will also pass through the province of Cuneo with the coasts of Barbaresco and Sommariva Perno. The Slovenian champion, after having raced – and dominated – his first Giro d’Italia, will look for the Giro-Tour double that has been missing since 1998, when Marco Pantani achieved it.
