Everyone in Jurmala for the last Olympic pass up for grabs in Europe. Twelve national teams will compete in a tournament that promises to be spectacular and exciting and will award a pass to a pair from the winning national team in both the men’s and women’s categories. All matches will be played with the same formula. the number one couple faces the opponent’s number one, then the two number two couples face each other. In case of a tie, a golden set is played at 15 with the two players of the four on the court chosen by the coach.
Italy is only competing in the women’s event because the national teams that have already had two passes cannot participate and Italy is one of those. Among the women, however, the Italians are chasing the pass to Paris: given that the couples already qualified for the Games cannot be fielded, the Italian path becomes tougher with Bianchin/Scampoli who have started this season in a great way.
Sthe top two from each group qualify for the next round. Together with Italy there is Austria which represents a difficult obstacle to overcome and Slovenia which should not represent a threat.
