The Bahrain GP, which took place on Saturday 2 March, marked the start of the F1 World Championship 2024. The season will be very long, with 24 Awards held (plus six Sprint Races) and the conclusion scheduled for Sunday 8 December in Abu Dhabi. It promises to be a particularly intense competitive year for the drivers and also for the teams, called to a very challenging commitment lasting nine months and practically without stopping.
Red Bull remains the team to beat: Max Verstappen he has won the last three World Championships and is the best rider around, the Dutchman will be joined by the Mexican Sergio Perezwho is struggling considering the quality of the car available. Ferrari will try to have its say with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, taking advantage of a car that appeared to be growing compared to last year’s. There Mercedes will try to have their say with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell lurking.
On paper these three teams are the best of the lot, but the McLaren of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri should not be underestimated. Aston Martin will be in the hands of the eternal Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. The Alpines of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, the Williams of Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant, the RBs of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda, the Kick Saubers of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, the Haas of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg are further behind.
