Anna Bongiorni qualified for the semi-finals of the 100 meters at the European Championships 2024 athletics, thus reaching Zaynab Dosso, which was already admitted to the next round as it was among the best twelve in the continental ranking (11.02 national record in Savona). The Italian offered a decent performance on the home straight Olympic Stadium in Rome: good exit from the blocks and good start, valid fluidity in the central part of the race, then a decline in the last twenty meters which however did not compromise the promotion.

Anna Bongiorni has concluded their series in third position with a time of 11.35 (0.4 m/s of tailwind), behind the German Lisa Mayer (11.20) and the Belgian Delphine Nkansa (11.28) but ahead of the Spanish Maria Isabel Perez (11.41, she had committed a false start) and the Greek Dimitra Tsoukala (11.48). The 30-year-old doctor, substitute captain of the national team, advances to the semifinals with the eleventh overall time (the best 14 passed) and tomorrow evening he will return to the track together with Zaynab Dosso.

The best time of the round was signed by the Belgian Rani Rosius (11.20 with 0.6 m/s of wind behind in the first heat), preceding the aforementioned Mayer and the Greek Polyniki Emmanoulidou (11.21 with 0.1 m/s of favorable breeze in the third heat). Among the others also promoted were the Swiss Geraldine Frey (11.25), the British Amy Hunt (11.25), the Cypriot Olivia Fotopoulou (11.27), the Belgian Delphine Nkansa (11.28).
