Stop or we’ll take you to court. In summary, this is the meaning of the letter that Fiorentina officially sent to the Municipality – and for information to the Ministries of Sport, Economy and Finance, and Culture – to ask not to start the reconstruction work on the Franchi stadium. At the moment there are no replies from the Municipality, but only an acknowledgment to examine the letter “calmly and carefully”. «The elements of uncertainty – it is written among other things in Fiorentina’s letter – mainly relate to two factors: a) absence of any evidence or comfort regarding the certainty and completeness of the framework of financing sources to cover the overall planned redevelopment interventions in the stadium; b) the consequent indeterminability not only of the execution times, but also of the completion of the work itself».

Then, again. “THEn this situation of total uncertainty, the administration’s choice to start the works anyway appears to be a completely irrational decision and seriously detrimental to the interests of Fiorentina. It is recalled that in the context of the existing contractual relationships with Fiorentina, the Municipality of Florence has the ex lege obligation of execution in good faith and entails precise obligations of notice and information, in addition to the fundamental obligation to base one’s behavior on diligent correctness, prudence and contractual solidarity, so as to safeguard and not jeopardize the interests of the other contracting party. Contrary to this expectation, the administration is instead consciously taking on the risk of disastrous outcomes which would burden mainly, if not exclusively, Fiorentina».

Finally, the club’s possible actions: «We are therefore forced to warn the administration from undertaking any initiative or issuing any order aimed at formally starting the works. Where, on the contrary, these have already been imprudently started, an immediate suspension is requested. Subject to all rights, actions and reasons, in any venue for the best protection of Fiorentina’s interests».
