Carlos Augusto, speaking to TNT Sports, spoke about how he settled in at Inter

Carlos Augusto gave an interview during the De Placa program on TNT Sports, during which he retraced his career up to his extraordinary year with Inter:

“I spent my whole life at Corinthians and when I became a starter I left to go to Monza, in the Italian Serie B. I remember that many commented that it was not an easy decision at all, because you leave a “top” team like the Brazilian one and end up to go to Italy but in Serie B. I think it was good for me to adapt to European football and also in Monza I made history. We were promoted to Serie A, it was the first time in their history and this year I arrived at ‘Inter and thank God I was bought by the Nerazzurri. Now it’s time to enjoy this moment.’

A new football

“Italian football is very tactical, it works a lot on defense and in Serie B with Monza this aspect was seen often and willingly. It was very difficult to attack teams that closed down. When I arrived in Serie A you could see the total difference in pace, especially when I was in Monza and played against big clubs, the difference was very clear. So you feel this speed a lot. Of course, the Premier League is much more intense, but also in Italy there is great intensity and also a lot of tactics defense is very well done”

The arrival at Inter

“When you arrive in the team that made the Champions League final the year before, it is very difficult for you to fit into the group straight away. I think the most difficult part was understanding the coach’s playing method, but in the end I learned it quite quickly, because it’s a very united group, we really felt like a family, and this helped throughout our season. I managed to adapt well to the style of play and I managed to have continuity of performance while playing practically almost all the matches”
