Juventus rejoins the Eca, Al Khelaifi: ‘Now we are stronger in Europe and in the world’

June 1, 2024 will certainly be a historic date for Juventus, as regards its relationship with the European institutions. On a symbolic day with that of the Champions League final, Juventus officially renews its relations with the ECA, the association of European clubs. The executive committee, meeting in London, evaluated the official request presented by Juventus itself for readmission within the association. A meeting also attended by UEFA President Ceferin and FIFA General Secretary Grafstrom. And the will of the ECA is certainly of great openness to Juventus, as evidenced by the words of its president Nasser El Khelaifi, who speaks of an open door ready to open to the Juventus club. And so after a formal process, it can be said that Juve will return to the ECA family (currently made up of the record number of 658 clubs) starting from next July 1st, the first official day of the 2024-2025 season.

The decision comes after a series of contacts and talks that took place in recent months between Nasser himself and the Juventus management, with John Elkann – the owner – at the forefront. The days of joining the Super League in April 2021 suddenly seem so far away with the then Juventus president and Eca number 1 Andrea Agnelli, head of the movement together with Real Madrid and Barcelona. The only two clubs that – through the A22 company – brought forward the request against the abuse of the dominant role of UEFA and FIFA at the European Court of Justice, also obtaining a partial but important success. Fundamental for this Juventus corporate course -in this historical moment- do not give up on a dialogue with the European institutions, be they ECA, UEFA AND FIFA. Also in view of a season in which Juve will be involved in the new super Champions League and the new Club World Cup.
