Larissa Iapichino first in Europe in 2024! Mihambo passed, on the world podium: sprint towards Rome

Larissa Iapichino has jumped to the top of the seasonal European long jump lists. The Italian was in fact the protagonist of a splendid performance leap from 6.86 meters in Palermo and thus signed the best continental performance of this outdoor competitive yearsurpassing by seven centimeters the previous hit of the German Malaika Mihambo (6.79 for the Olympic Champion a couple of days ago in Dessau).

We are considering only outdoor tests, because also taking into account the indoor ones then we should fish out the 6.95 that the same Teutonic team signed on February 23rd in Berlin. Larissa Iapichino has so equaled the world’s third-largest outdoor seasonal measurementor the 6.86 jumped by the American Sophia Beckmon with 6.86 (1.0 m/s tailwind) on May 4th in Champaign.

The ranking is dominated by the other American Tara Davis-Woodhall with the peremptory 7.16 (0.1 m/s of breeze in the face) last May 3 in Fayetteville, while Agate De Sousa from Sao Tomè & Principe is second with 6.86 ( +1.6 m/s) on April 25 in Lisbon. This is a nice boost when there are only ten days left until the European Championships in Romewhere the Tuscan will aim to be the absolute protagonist and will hunt for medals in front of its own audience.

Larissa Iapichino lights up Palermo: Olympic minimum jump, best European of the year! And the two nothings…
