Peter Buldorini beats the Japanese Rei Sakamoto in two quick sets and wins the final of the Itf Men’s Future tournament of the Polisportiva 2000 Cervia (15,000 dollars in prize money), the 1st “Città di Cervia” trophy. It was the only match concluded today on a day affected by bad weather.
The 19-year-old from Recanati, n.787 in the world ranking (for a little while longer), clearly defeated the Japanese player, who entered as Junior Reserved and won this year’s Australian Open Juniores, with a quick 6-3, 6-1 in a ‘hour and 10 minutes of play. This year the player from the Marche has already reached the quarterfinals three times in tournaments on the ITF circuit, even if his best seasonal result, before the final reached in Cervia, had so far been the qualification in the ATP Challenger in Manama where he also passed the 1 th round at the expense of the Englishman Peniston, before losing after a balanced match to the Frenchman Richard Gasquet. In short, a player on the rise. Then the rain hit which forced the organizers to postpone the rest of the program until tomorrow (Sunday), therefore the semi-final between Alessandro Pecci and Niccolò Baroni, scheduled for 11am, and the doubles final at 10am between Forlì’s Jacopo Bilardo and Gianluca Cadenasso (n.3) and the Ravenna Federico Bondioli with the Japanese Sakamoto. The singles final is scheduled for Sunday at 5pm.
Doubles, semi-finals: Bilardo-Cadenasso (n.3) b. De Bernardis-Rottoli (n.1) 4-6, 6-1, 10-4, Bondioli-Sakamoto b. Catini-Perfetti (n.2) 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
