Camerino, new pastoral center

On Sunday 9 June 2024, (4 pm), in Camerino, the inauguration of the New Diocesan Pastoral Center will take place in the premises of the former Seminary strongly desired by the archbishop, mons. Francesco Massara, always convinced of the need to create meeting places for the new generations. The former Seminary, damaged by the 2016 earthquake, was deemed suitable for this mission and, following a major renovation, it is now being returned to the Archdiocese which, in turn, makes it available to the entire community. The New Pastoral Center, the diocese explains, will host some large rooms for the Oratory and pastoral meetings, a Listening Center of the diocesan Caritas, a multipurpose environment and a spacious latest generation multimedia room. To encourage meeting and leisure opportunities, the Center will also be equipped with an outdoor space equipped with a modern five-a-side football pitch, a beach volleyball pitch, as well as other green spaces for games. Thanks to the installation of an elevator, part of the building will host the Clergy House with five rooms for elderly priests who need assistance in a family environment where they can share their human and priestly experience. Thirty-three beds will be reserved for students, thus adding further availability of accommodation for university students, in addition to that already made available in the Next Generation Residence, inaugurated in the historic center of Camerino at the end of 2022. The New Pastoral Center will be named after some historical figures from Camerino : Stefania Scuri and Maurizio Cavallaro who passed away prematurely, both coming from the experience of Scouting, Msgr. Renzo Rossi, a priest who passed away in 2007, remembered for his great generosity and the material and spiritual help he provided to the most needy and Msgr. Quinto Martella, who died in 2020, who, as a priest and teacher, was always in contact with young people, leaving a significant legacy that gave impetus to the creation of the Pastoral Center.
